About Us

Rutherglen Community Carers is a registered charity, Scottish Charity No. SC027037 and a Company Ltd by guarantee SC208831. It is inspected by and registered with the Care Commission, CS2004071231.

Rutherglen Community Carers was established in 1994 to address the need for person-centred social support for people with dementia and other mental health/disabling conditions who are being supported in the community. Support at home (home based respite) is provided by carers and, in the wider community, through specific community groups run by the organisation, namely the Early Diagnosed Dementia Group and the Craft Club. The aim of the organisation is to support people to live well with their underlying health conditions and to provide respite and stress relief to service recipients and their families. The service is intended to complement existing services, not replace them.

Our People

The project is governed by a voluntary management committee composed of local people who have an interest in the work and are often carers themselves. The Committee has responsibility for providing leadership, financial control and all aspects of legislative requirements for the organisation.

The committee employ trained staff, presently 13, who provide much needed home care respite to families in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas. There are also a number of valuable volunteers who are readily available to assist with group outings and other projects. The office staff comprises a Project Manager and a Project Administrator.

Funding

As a charity we are dependent on funding from a variety of sources such as grants and private donations along with charges for services provided.
